iPads and iPods are basically the same depending on what generation/model you get. They are great for surfing the web, playing games, etc. Between the two an iPad would be better because it is larger and has the capability to have 3G service through a service provider. If you like the small size of the iPod but would like to access the Internet outside of a wifi hotspot an IPHONE would be best.
I've had a phone with the android software and it was a good phone but I personally prefer my iPhone.
