which is a better cellphone?

Assuming you're on Sprint, I would have to say the Rant. Why?

Rumor doesn't have Sprint TV, the Sprint Music Store, and also doesn't have bandwidth capabilities. But I think it's a personal preference. I'm a lefty, so I prefer the Rant because the keyboard slides out to the left. The Rumor slides to the right for the right handed people. But if you were ambidextrous it wouldn't matter now would it? Despite the minor differences, they are both good entry level messaging phones.

What do I have you may ask?

Palm Pre > other sprint phones as of 2009
 
Samsung Rant by a landslide. LG phones are generally knockoffs of Samsung phones anyway and do not have anywhere near the quality/durability that Samsung phones do.
