....looking for a war movie off beat btw...suggestions?

I always choose a B/A and don't thumb any person down to Qs I ask.

Mica ~ that wasn't necessary and no I did not thumb you down. There is room for even the German movies for another question; however, this question was specific to Hollywood. Please edit your answer and tone down the rhetoric.
Nan ~ No I do not have one in mind. There are several I know of and like my "Joni v Joan" Q I am pondering and "stuck"....I come here for guidance and life support....LOL!

Sinner ~ good god you make things tough now don't you? Will keep "Longest Day" off the short list only because the one liners weren't as prevalent as they were in some other Hollywood WW II movies. I agree with your take though.

Muinghan ~ yeah, love those lines and those of Carrol O'Connor as well...this role landed him that "gig" in "All in the Family" soon after this was released (I know you know this for some odd reason....LOL!). Is there another out there that can beat "Kelly's Heroes'? Hmmm....it's sort of the Monty Python of WW II movies with the humor isn't it? But is it THE BEST?
DeSaxe ~ great one liners you reference...I am looking for something a little more consistent though throughout the movie itself.

Ammianus ~ as always a great answer sir, Mel Brooks is a tough one to beat and he is over the top with what you reference; we all sort of "expect" this though from Brooks don't we? We expect the humor to be rampant from start to finish. I guess I was looking for something more subtle but a mildly surprised script in and through out the movie...I do like your choice however. Now I feel the question is somewhat lacking.
Kelly ~ well, what a surprise to see you here. Was taken by the personal reference of family conversation to this. "Kelly's Heroes" is a little ironic as well in this sense. Thanks for the laugh from you, Muinghan, and a couple of others this morning.

Sinner ~ no disagreeance but am looking specific to WW II; Full Metal Jacket is also filled with them but those are referenced to Vietnam and the later battle for the city of Hue with "H" Company of the 2nd Bn 5th Marines of the 1st Marine Division. I like your choices however for different time periods.
