Which game is better: Half-Life 2 or Bioshock?

I've played Half-Life 2 plus both of the episodes a few months back and thought it was a very exciting game. Just recently I got Bioshock, which seems to be very similar to Half-Life 2. I still haven't gotten very far in the game, but I have watched bits and pieces here and there throughout the entire game. But my question is: which is better? At first impression, both games appear to have interesting plots, but Half-Life 2 admittedly has more variety in both scenery and story to it. One minute you're in City 17, the next you're escaping through a canal system, then you travel through the headcrab infested city of Ravenholm, etc.. Bioshock seems to be more repetitive. The scenery is always a dark, underwater city that has been torn to hell. Plus it looks like you have to hack just about everything every 5 seconds. It still looks cool, but it doesn't seem to me like it is as legendary or groundbreaking as Half-Life 2. What do you think?
