Which engine would fit in a '89 Dodge Dakota?

I have the V6 carburettor engine in it right now, but i think there might be some interior damage (cams, pistons, valves) and am thinking it might be less work to put another engine in, but i'm looking for a bit of an upgrade. Which other engines would fit without any serious modifications?
