Student in distress

I am going to be a college student in a couple of months and I am having a hard time choosing a computer for college.
So I've always been a window user but I do not mind a change.
I need a computer in which can do all my class work and more. I will be a business major in college but some of my core classes are computer science (which means code writing), economics classes and tons and tons of essays.
I need a computer who can function all the above and be able to last me four years, because I'm not a person who changes computer very often. Also I need the computer to have long battery life for I will be using it in class for note taking and other things along those lines.
But the computers I will be choosing from are:
mac book pro 13in, 15in or Window based laptop most likely HP (I know others had bad experience with them, but for the HPs I've owned I had no problems with them)
So if you could give me a straight forward answer and the reason why behind it, that would be great.
Thank you in advance!
