I have a car (2001) that cost expensive to repair. Most parts come from the dealer. So, I cannot always take my car to the local shop. I do nto think that my car is very common. Sometimes it was not easy to find a shop. I spent a lot of money on this car to keep in a good shape. I spent a lot on things indise the cab such as door locks and power windows, and air bag lights, seat belts. Now it is getting more costly than ever to keep running. In the last two years, four AC repair cost me over $2000. I shopped around, I was told that still many parts are dealer items. I found out it cost about the same whether I go to the dealer or to the local shops. Does it make any difference if I had more common cars? Or most car parts are supposed to be from the dealer. I like to take this into the consideration for the next purchase. I would not buy the same make I have.
