I have to do a historical analysis essay on a book and I can't decide whether I should do it on The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald or Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen. This is a historical analysis not a literary analysis, so I would write it on the 1920s and such for The Great Gatsby and about the Holocaust for Devil's Arithmetic and how the book is connected to the history of the events. I can't decide, so if you've read any of these books (or even better both) would you recommend it for a historical analysis essay?
Thanks for all the answers so far! I just wanted to add that I have to choose between these two books because they were off a list and only one person can read a certain book in each class period. We chose today and everyone has chosen a book already, but luckily no one else wanted to read these two and I have until Monday to decide.
