I'm trying to learn a few programming languages. I've already started with java, and c, but now I want to add on. So when it comes to learning perl which book is better, Programming Perl (3rd Edition) by Larry Wall, Tom Chris or Perl Programming for the Absolute Beginner by Jerry Lee Ford Jr. For Ruby which book is better Programming Ruby by Dave Thomas, Chris Pine's "Learning to Program", or "Agile Development with Rails" by Dave Thomas and David Heinenmeier Hansson. For matlab I couldn't find any books beside getting started with MATLAB version 7. For VBA Mastering VBA for Microsoft Office 2007 or Beginning Access 2000 VBA. And for python Learning Python from O'Reilly, Dive Into Python, Python in a Nutshell, or Thinking in Python. If you know any other books that are better than the ones listed please let me know. I've done a bit of research on each book, but I haven't found anything definitive about the books besides that these books can help me but they never say which is best.
