Which bike would you get?

I voted MV. I didn't use to think of the MV as such a "gold standard", but the more you talk with other riders, and not just track guys the more you realize the MV really is the tops. I don't care much for the MV Star wheels, thats just me, but the Silver/Red heritage colours are amazing in person and demand respect.
The BMW on the other hand has the power, and electronics etc.. but it does have some goofy looks. Sitting on it, I don't have to worry about looking at (unless I involuntarily separate from the ride, in which I would cringe not only from the site of my bike sliding but from it being rather hard on the eyes). Sitting also screams Japanese, as does the rest of the aesthetics aside from the mismatched asymmetrical fairings and nose. Yes the 1098 has asymmetrical fairings, as nearly all bikes do due to the sidestand, but not to the dramatic affect of the BMW. Much like sex appeal, where people look for symmetrical traits to identify as matches, I think many look at bikes the same way. There are more manufacturers coming out with these odd-ball designs though, Nissan with the Cube...not so symmetrical, but people are adapting what they consider attractive. Sometimes the form is first, sometimes function. To MV has the perfect blend of both, where BMW threw form out the window and focused on function only.

Just my thoughts.

BMW hands down. I prefer riding to looking at it. I recall looking into the MV a while back and was disappointed by how much it weighs. Maybe that's improved, but it left me scratching my head a bit.

But surely the mv weight is in direct comparision to the rider. For instance if you weigh 210lbs then the mv is ok but if you weigh 120lbs then you are gonna struggle

i'd be interested to here your opinion once you've tasted the pudding

as much as i adore my duc again i have to agree. the seat for example: it fits the 'gusta but merely attached to the ducati.

the more you look the more you notice the quality. every element to the smallest bolt is thought out and designed. its a case study in engineering form and function?

Get the Mv! I am a BMW Tech. and these things are a piece of poop. Every BMW I have ever ridden/driven never lived up to what BMW said they would do. Besides the MV just looks great.

I vote BMW. I just got a day of riding in on it at the california superbike school. That thing is awesome. Handles well, power for days, and I had it in rain mode. Overall, that thing was stable in the corners and I couldn't really find anything I didn't like about it. I think if you test ride one you might lean that way.
