SO i've owned a couple bikes,
a 93 ninga 250,
87 Honda intercepter 700
80's model Suzuki GS 550
but now i want to move on to my dream bike, a ducati
i wiegh 150, 6ft, and 18 yrs old, and love speed. which bike is right for me?
I almost bought a 02 monster back in the summer, but i wanted a 996 at the time. but now im sure what i want. any ideas for a good bike?

Schwinn comes to mind.....seriously, your previously owned bikes don't even begin to compare to a modern superbike. The Monster idea you had was probably the way to go, get some riders training and more miles under your belt then look a pursuing that dream.

I had a BROS 400 10 years ago, got some good training and then got a 1098s. I had no problem but I was biking for 2-3 years and taken a few spins on a CBR 400 so knew what to expect.

1098 is amazing power but you have to trust yourself to drive within your limitations and feel comfortable that you can control the bike rather than the other way around. We have all heard the story about the guys letting go of the clutch to fast as they are leaving the showroom (Ouch!)

How the fuck would would you know, you do not even own a Ducati. You imagined up the one in your signature. Maybe some newbie will think you are a hero, but the rest of us know you are just a misinformed, delusional, asshole.

what are you doing with it?

My buddies monster is great around town and to cruise around in, plenty good enough to carve the curves also(s2r 1000) and it makes me want one as a second bike.

My 848 is plenty of bike for me, it has plenty of power, is easy to throw around but I dont enjoy it in the city much. Its not bad but there are better around town bikes.

seeing that you are newish to superbikes and the 1098 might be a bit much for you IMO. If you are hell bent on superbike from ducati i think from what i have heard, read, and discussed with some of the 8484 owners it might be the right mix of new, power, and duke you are looking for. I happen to like the 996/998 series and i have seen some very nice deals on them too if your heart is pulling you that way

With the experience you have I would say switch to an older 600. A 2002 Honda F4i is a great bike for an young guy with some experience. It will have plenty of power and you can drop it a few times and not worry about spending a college fund to fix it.

Don't feel like you need to rush into a superbike. Enjoy the learning process of riding different bikes.
