and how this was similar or different for different sides? (German, British, American, Russian, Japanese, etc)

also, what would have happened to a young man in USA or Britain..that simply said "NO WAY!..I AM NOT GOING TO GO TO WAR AND FIGHT!"? why there were not more men complaing? (as who wants to go live like animals for a number of years and have your legs and arms blown off, and clean up dead bodies and kill people? )

which percentage of men did this? and why , especially in America there were not more? (as many of the americans that moved there from Germany , espcially, were moving there FOR THAT VERY REASON...to avoid having to fight in an army) also, why Texas and the south east in USA seems to be such a popular area for American soldiers? (just curious why this is as it seems in all documentaries , etc you always hear a texas accent among the soldiers being interviewed, etc)
