Where to lock up my bike?

I want to start riding my bike into school and was wondering if it would be wiser to lock it up on school grounds, across the street at a light pole, or on a tree in the woods? On school grounds, I'm not sure there is a place I'm allowed to put it and I worry that some bratty kids would try and do something to it (I go to school with some very immature people) However, across the street there is a parking lot surrounded by trees that is usually pretty empty that sits next to an entrance to a nature trail (the trail eventually leads to my street). In the parking lot, there is a light pole, and adjacent to this parking lot is a police station. I feel that theft is not much of a risk in my town because most people here (excluding myself of course,) are affluent and wouldn't need to steal a bike, besides the police station is right next to the parking lot. however, i'm still paranoid because my previous bike was stolen from another neighborhood i had considered safe. Would it be safest to leave it somewhere on the school because we usually have a security officer patrolling campus, across the street in the basically unused police-adjacent parking lot on a light pole, or on a tree somewhere in the nature trail?
