where to get help in making art using wolfram mathematica 7?

i was drawn to mathematica by the wonderful images i have seen the program create. i am considering buying the program and would appreciate some people pointing me in the right direction to get started in using it for image creation.

is there a website i need to check out, a notebook to download, etc?

i am more an artist than mathemtician, but i learn real fast ;)
