Does anyone know where the E70-2 (north american version with 850) can be purchased online that will ship to Canada? So far I only found expansys.ca and there is nothing on ebay. Thanks.

Dammit!!! I just saw that!!!

*EDIT*

It wasn't too late to cancel my order from Nokia.com!!!

Luckily, they send you a confirmation email that you have to agree to. I declined it and I'm ordering it from Buy.com right now!!!

Hope it will meet my VERY HIGH PCS Standards, otherwise ?Good Bye? E70-2

It's not a bad phone. I've had it for 3 weeks, but it's currently being repaired after being bricked by nokia su. Anyway, decent form factor for typing and messaging. Screen resolution rocks, but I do wish the screen was around 2.4-2.5 in size instead of 2.0 (or is it 2.1). Everything is kind of tiny, so good eyes are a must on the phone.

Web browsing is good.... except that you run out of memory on moderately heavy pages all the time, killing your browser in the process and forcing you to restart. Wifi is good, but annoying to get to to turn it off/on. What's not good is lack of 3G, Edge is just not fast enough.

You just answered my question. I was looking at the specs for the handset on Nokiausa's site and noticed "EDGE Wireless." Bummer. I knew for sure this was going to be the last handset i'd want to purchase for awhile. It's going on 4 years now that i've been flogging the 6820! I love messaging on this phone. Opera Mini makes mild web browsing tolerable before memory runs out. I was hoping for more with this E70-2 being that apparently it has the same issues as my outdated 6820! Can anyone comment on exactly how much data transfer, or for how long one can hope to websurf, before handset falls on it's face? The only real draw for me here is the better camera, expandable memory, mp3, and other non-essential but nice features. Can't commit if i'm going to be loosing out in the end on internet play. Why would Nokia make all those other awsome Eseries handsets 3g, but make this one EDGE?

The reason for EDGE is that it's US phone, nokia does not make US 3G phones as of yet (N75 is coming). Now, on the web-browsing portion. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good when it works. Edge is not fast, but the page gets there eventually. Goal is to not install anything on the phone memory, keep everything on the memory card so you have max amount of space. You can browse say hofo or google mobile ok. However, say if you go to site heavy with images, after 10 min you will most likely get the memory full.

I haven't tried data transfer beyond 400-500KB, but that seems to work fine. It's web-page caching that kills you. The browser itself, btw, is very good, it's just device does not have quite enough ram, IMO. Don't forget, this has much better OS compared to yours, S60 and yours is S40, meaning lots of apps you can get. It has better keyboard, IMO, much better screen, more memory, etc... It's a better device hands down.

Its just there are a few drawbacks where you go and think, if someone spent a bit more time on design and testing, it would have been superb. Throw in 3G, more RAM, and 20% more screen space, and you would have a perfect device (well, better lense on the camera wouldn't hurt either :P).

Since I did the firmware update to 2.0618.07.10 I hardly ever (probably 3-4 times in 3 weeks) have memory loss issues, bear in mind I don't surf that often in fold out mode, but I do plenty of heavy surfing to graphic intensive websites.

I do agree on the screen size, if it was just .2 or .3 of an inch longer it would have been perfect.

To my knowledge, no one has specifically commented on the browser memory issue with respect to the browser version. I assume that the comments are directed at the built-in Nokia browser. Is that right?

Now that operamini is at version 3, can anyone comment on that browser?

Thanks!
