Where to buy an affordable hybrid/road bike and what brands?

I will have a 4 mile commute to work and am wanting a road style bike with straight handlebars. I am looking to spend around $500. My standover height is about 32-33" and I am 6'2" and about 180lbs. Any suggestions on brands/models or any good biking websites that have pretty good deals?
 
I think Bianchi has some good commuter/road bikes for around $500. Salsa also sells some good bikes but they might be a little above your price range. I am also in the same situation and instead of buying a new commuter I bought an old road bike that back in the day was one of the best, and have spent my time putting new parts on it. I think I spent around $300 total, and gained a lot of knowledge about bikes.
