I currently attend the University of Miami for undergrad & I know that I want to go to law school and become an entertainment lawyer. UM's law school has a joint degree program where I can get my J.D. & a master's degree in music business at the same time. While this program is ideal for me, I'm not sure if I want to live in Miami for 3 more years.
I am originally from Atlanta & I know that I want to practice law there, especially since the music industry is growing there. However, there aren't any law schools in Georgia that offer a large number of classes focusing on music law. I was considering going to law school in California since there's more schools with entertainment based classes. I know the same is true about New York.
I know that I would pretty much begin specializing in entertainment once I start working but the aspects of the music business are very interesting to me & I know it would be easier for me to put up with classes I may take in law school that I find boring. Staying in Georgia would be more affordable for me but going to law school in California or New York would probably be best for my career. What should I do? Also, will going to an out-of-state law school have any affect on me taking the bar in Georgia?
