Where should i go for outdoor adventures?

Im looking to going to New Zealand and/or Australia. Im not sure where to go for the best outdoor adventures in either of those locations, so im hoping that maybe some of you guys can give me your input on experiences, and where to go in those countries.

Consider Alaska. It's a LOT closer to home than New Zealand or Australia, you don't need a passport or a lot of money to get there and "outdoor adventures" abound around every turn in the road. There is NO place on earth like Alaska. Until you have "been there - done that", why waste time and money looking anywhere else? It truly is "the Last Frontier".
