I am wanting to backpack for 2-3 months after teaching in English in Spain for 6 months. I was thinking about South America, Asia, or Europe. Australia would also be AWESOME, but airfare is outrageous. I am American, so with the strength of the dollar right now considered, what do you think would be the cheapest option? I feel like any backpacking experience would be awesome so I am pretty open to locations. I am also wanting to take into consideration the cost of flights. Considering I will already be in Spain, I thought it may be cheaper just to backpack Europe (event though its still probably a bit more expensive then South America or Asia) when I deduct the amount I would have spent on airfare to a different continent.
I am really confused on what would be the cheapest, yet most awesome experience.....this is for a gap year and I am using money that I saved up to do it. I will most likely have around $4000 left to backpack after my 6 months stay in Spain. And I am considering using around $750ish on a scuba diving course also.
So yeah....what do you think?
