where should I get financial aid? school or bank?

I am currently on a work visa (H1B) and is planning to go to school for my masters. My friend told me that it is better to apply from a bank coz their interest is much lower than in schools. Is this true?
What are the pros/cons?
and how much payment do they ask per month if my tuition is about $11,000 for two years?
