Where is the timing mark scale on 1987 chevy caprice?

I am trying to adjust the timing to a 1987 chevy caprice but i can not find the timing mark scale. Chilton says in front of engine but i can not find it anywhere. Any ideas?
 
The timing mark is behind the crank pulley on the harmonic balancer ( the biggest and main pulley right above the front of your oil pan. You may have to look under side of the car to see it. it's just a small notch cut into it. mark it with white chalk or crayon. The timing tab to match it to is right under your water pump to the drivers side or right behind the water pump center of the timing cover.
