Where is the fuel filter located on my 1997 Dodge Stratus?

I am getting 2 different answers from 2 different mechanics! One says it's in the gas tank, the other says it's on the outside! One says the whole assembly needs changed out and you can't just replace the filter and it will cost $500! The other says you can change it only for $35-40! HELP
 
The fuel pump on the 97 Stratus is a one-piece assembly inside the tank that consists of the pump, filter, and various fuel lines.
