I just visited crested butte a couple weeks ago and did the whole mountain bike thing. While out around gothic road (we camped at the gothic campsite) I thought this would be a great area to do some backcountry ski mountaineering. Thing is, Im not sure if gothic road or the camp site is open in the winter. If anyone has any better suggestions feel free to provide info. I had also considered going off of vail pass, but I fear their are to many people there.
Where is the best place to backcountry ski and camp around crested butte?
