Where is starter located on a 96 Chevy Cheyenne 1500 4.3L V6?

I think my starter is going out it has been intermittant for awhile. When it fouls up it will not keep spinning you hear a click and that is it until I release key and try again, occaisionally it will start. Have replaced battery and had tranny and clutch assembly redone. Please help.
