Where in the sky at twilight is the international space station?

I see what appears to be a very bright star right after sunset in the sky, about 40 degrees above the horizon in the SSW area each evening, and was wondering if it is indeed the ISS. I live in Hawaii, and my neighbor keeps telling me that it is Jupiter, but I think he is full of space junk, because it is too large and too bright to be a planet. Who is right?
