there is a levitical hierarchy for priests.

what you mention above pertains to the catholic church = man-made doctrines, rules, etc.

it is NOT biblical.
 
It's not herarchical. because even a pope is just a bishop. But because he is the bishop of Rome, he must be listened by the other bishops. It's called he is the first among the equals, just like Peter one of the disciples was chosen by Jesus to guide the others.
 
paul does mention a church structure, but i cant think of anything even closely related to how the catholic hierarchical system mentioned in the bible
 
the Catholic church? I'm sure Jesus would've wanted all the power to be concentrated in one top, central figure who lives in luxury and has little contact with the laymen. However, where does Jesus (or some of significant biblical figure) describe the religious power system? (i.e. Priest, Bishop, archbishop, cardinal, pope)
