...blamed for its illegal use? with reference to the australian copyright laws, how can a software developer be blamed for the software's illegal use, rather than those using it?

it would be common law, if somethings use is for predominately for copyright infringement you could be sued for damages

for example if you had a program that stripped off encryption off a dvd then you would be personally libel to damages claims and could be a party fro assisting a criminal act of breech of copyright, there doesn't hav to be specific Provision
