I have a pontiac lemans luxury coupe 1972. It is in good shape. but does not have a manual. I need to know ASAP where all the fluids go- they aren't marked. Oil, transmition, brake fluid etc. Or where to download a free manual or diagram of the engine.
Thanks

Oh boy, sounds like first vehicle. Lets start with the brake fluid. Under the hood on the firewall right in front of the driver you will see the master cylinder. Open it by prying aside the wire like thing that goes over the top of the cap. Two compartments in there. Fill them both with Dot 2 or Dot 3 brake fluid only. Power steering. Follow the belt down and you will see the power steering pump. Turn the cap counter clockwise to remove it. There is a dip stick attached to the cap. Fill to full mark, Power steering fluid only. Radiator Can't remember if it has expansion tank or not. If there is a small hose running from the filler cap neck to a container. Fill to full mark. 50/50 anti-freeze and water. Remove rad cap and be sure it is full right to the cap (remove only when cold) Engine oil There is a cap on one rocker cover. or a pipe leading up from the engine about centre. Check dipstick and add to full mark, not over. Automatic trans. dipstick on passenger side at very back. Fill to full mark when hot only. Automatic transmission fluid only.Do not overfill. Standard trans. plug on side of trans. fill till it runs out. Open drivers door. Jump in. Fasten seat belt, start and you are away. Good luck, I have a feeling you are going to need it.

I am not trying to be funny, but if you don't know where the fluids go on your Lemans, DON'T RAISE THE HOOD AGAIN! The car isn't all that complicated.

Take your vehicle to Jiffy Lube, or some other quick-change place and have them point the areas out to you, how to check the levels and what type fluids to add.

You won't find a free or downloadable manual anywhere, especially for a 37 year old vehicle. You can, however, find or have repair/service manuals ordered at your local auto parts store.
