where did the myth that wolves & bears eat people come from?

ha you got lucky, i wouldn't try that again...animals are just like people, some are aggressive others aren't, you got lucky and came across the one's who weren't. If a hungry pack of wolves finds you all by yourself in the woods you will most certainly become a meal, the same applies to a starved bear because bears are omnivores like us humans meaning they eat both meat and veggies..try getting 20 feet from a polar bear and you will definitely be food as they are finding it harder and harder to find food

The fact that you didn't get eaten doesn't mean that no one else did. Wild animals are dangerous, and while people are not their primary (or even secondary) food source, bears and wolves will attack if threatened. And it'll be a small consolation to a dead person that a bear attacked but did not eat them.

Current day examples are rare, but in the past when people and bears / wolves encounters were much more common. You are considered MEAT by all carnivores whether you are regular diet or not. Heck even you faithful pet would eat you if there were no other alternatives.

We only think we are at the top of the food chain. With out all of our separation from the wild we are a couple of links down...
