Where can you work with a Masters in Business Econ?

I have enrolled at Miami University (Ohio) and will be attending this fall. They are currently ranked 16 in the nation in Undergraduate Business, and I expect that ranking to get better this fall due to the amazing new business building they installed. I am majoring in Business Economics and possibly minoring in Political Science but I am also thinking about minoring in Finance. I'm wondering how this will set me up for the future. Do banks or other financial institutions hire candidates with a Masters in Economics (which is what I aim to attain), or is that a hocus-pocus degree? I'm related to a HR Bank Executive and he's told me that Economists are hired every once in awhile, but also said that it is usually easier to be a consultant if you have an Econ degree.

I'm looking for an average life salary (in 2010 dollar figures) of about $120,000. Is this unreasonable? Is this not attainable? I am intelligent, I've found my "calling"; in that I understand the theory of economics well, and I truly am passionate for the subject.
