Hurricane Ike in Houston, TX? We came from Florida to Bunker Hill Village, TX (just west of Houston & is considered Houston) to help with the clean-up. For the last week, we've had to stay in the cab of our trucks because there is nowhere for us to camp. By camp, I mean....to put up a tent & try and get a good nights rest before the next job site in the morning. We can't find anywhere to go. The YMCA is very helpful, in letting us shower & charge our phones. But we have yet to find someone or somewhere to let us park our truck & pop a tent to rest. I have called around to a ton of people from the government to the red cross. The "311" number is a joke, they thought of us as campers (which were not.) I've called camp grounds & most arent open for business yet. But were not there to enjoy your scenery, were there to help get your lives back to normal. It's disturbing to see that the government did not designate area's for helping hands. Like a comfort zone. Somewhere to use the bathroom, shower & sleep until the break of day. So if there is anyone out there in the Bunker Hill Village area or nearby in TX that would extend a helping hand to another helping hand, we would Greatly Appreciate it. We are honest, hard working faithful people.
