Where can I PUBLISH a book?

I have written a book, and I've heard from people that it is really good, can I write another? I want to publish it, but I don't have money to cover the $600 fee charged by Author House.

Any suggustions?
Also, I want the company to be reliable and won't cheat me in subtle ways.

Is that too much to ask?
