where can i get free samsung impression apps or SMS texting things?

i have the samsung impression, and it's a horribly dull thing. i don't have internet/data/web on it, but i do have unlimited texting. so, since i have a USB cable, where can i go on the internet that let's me download FREE (no per month price) apps or SMS texting things on my phone?
another question...
are all of the pre-downloaded apps free for anybody? or do you have to have web/data/internet on it?
