requirements...)? I like to walk and hike recreationally, but up until now I've never had a pair of hiking boots, I've just managed with good tennis shoes. That's worked okay for fairly undemanding terrain, with mostly flat paths and maybe the occasional boulder, and for relatively short distances. (I think the furthest I've gone is 22 miles in one day... and I've never really done anything that required more than one day).

So, since I'm going to be traveling abroad and going on longer and perhaps more difficult walks, I'm really wanting to buy a good pair of hiking boots. My price range isn't astronomical but I don't know how much good boots tend to run. I'd love to pay around 100$, and could imagine paying 200$. Is this a reasonable amount?

Where should I go and who should I talk to to find boots? I'd like them to be decent quality, last a long time and bad treatment like getting wet or whatever. The most important thing I'm looking for is a good fit. I have difficult to fit feet (very narrow ankle, etc) and my feet also tend to fall inwards when I walk, for which I usually wear orthodics in my tennis shoes. It's not absolutely necessary to find boots that might help with this, as the problem is not major and I could possibly even use my orthodics with the boots, but it would be a plus.
