...During World War 2? Hello.
The BBC in London has produced one of the best kept secrets of music from World War 2 namely "V" Discs. It seems during the musicians strike covering the period around the 1940s, the US Government formed its own record label called "V" Discs in which striking musicians would band together, record tracks, have them sent overseas, and which were played to (mainly) the US military who were based here during the war.
At the end of the 3rd programme,it was revealed that two complete sets of these "V" recordings were saved. One by a serving military man,and one by a museum. It would also seem that the complete set of "V" discs were remastered and issued on cd some years ago.
Do any of you reading this know which record label (or labels) issued the remastered "V" discs and whether or not the complete set is still available in the USA for purchase please?
Any help, suggestions and recommendations, along with any links, would be gratefully received.
Thank you in advance for all your help.
