You are going to have to obtain them from the dealership. If you are lifing here in California, you cannot purchase them over the counter. Your vehicle has to be in an authorized repair shop and they have to be ordered through that shop or deivered directly to that shop, (though you may pay for them at the dealership).
They are considered a Restricted Class 3 Destructive Device in this state.
It has to do with the explosive that is contained in them.
Wrecking yards, are required under state law to pull the airbags, and send them to an authorized dis-assembly facility, and either have them discharged or recycled. There are companies out there who do remanufacture them, but they are almost as expensive as getting new ones.
Last I checked, the parts for your car, are almost $2500.00 each.
If your insurance company is about to total your car, because of the cost of replacement for discharged airbags, you are almost better letting them total the car, take the check and get a new car. Yes it sucks, I have been there and done that! Car gets paid off and you get into an accident.
Someone pulled out if front of me around a bus and did not see me coming. I plowed the side of their car, and totaled mine. I was in a 45MPH Zone when it happend, doing 38MPH.
All I know is I heard a crunch, pop, and everything went black, with the distinct smell of matches.
