Where can I find cheap backpacking equipment?

Some friends and I are trying to put together a backpacking trip for the first time. I was just wondering if anyone knew of somewhere I could get some stuff cheap I don't want to spend a whole lot.
 
Walmart does have some decent items for a sale price.
But you get what you pay for.
so cheap isnt the best way to go.
 
i guess you could go to a wal-mart supercenter. just look in the sporting goods section.
