Where can I find a custom single speed bicycle?

I'm a college student and I'm looking for a single speed bike. I really like republicbike.com, but I want to shop around a bit for a better option. Is there anywhere similar where I can find a single speed at around the same price? It doesnt need to be as customizable as Republic Bikes are.
 
Find an old 10 speed bike and convert it over to a single speed. It can be as simple as removing the front and rear derailleurs and using a gear ratio that gives you a straight chain line. Some of the old Schwinn 10 speeds made very nice single speeds.
