where can I download a good and simple dvd player please?

most sites advertize dvd players (softpedia) that do all sorts of things, EXCEPT play a dvd on a PC.
Then most other sites, will download malaware along with their useless files.
So please, I want only answers from real users, not from advertisers of junk.
I am looking for a good and easy real DVD player for PC. I tried AVS media player, and it does not play dvd's. My windows media player won't play dvd's because I need to buy $60 worht of codex (and I don't want to do that of course)
Anyhow, assistance from REAL users would be greatly appreciated
 
Media Player Classic, VLC, or whatever software came with the drive (if it was Retail not OEM).
