They are farm raised so it is not effecting the wild population. The wild population is being threaten by destruction of habitat, so even if you put them in to the wild then they would still die of starvation because there is not enough food for all of them and being born in captivity they would not have the skills to be competitive. That is a lot worse way to die than being stun unconscious then killed.
