Where can I buy a replacement Lamp Failure Indicator for a 99 Mercury Cougar?

Seems like its a very popular problem with the 1999 model Cougars that this Lamp Failure Indicator sensor tends to short out and cause the brake lights and cruise control to stop functioning. (The cruise control shut-off is controlled by power to the brake lights.) The same problem also causes the low beam headlights as well as the tail lights to stop functioning, and if it gets too bad none of the exterior lights work.
I can't find any parts dealer that sells the part I need, so I've had to just wiggle the wires just right to make the lights work again while I continue my search. And of course the problem just gets worse every time. Because it is a popular problem, all Cougars at the salvage yards have been stripped of this part as well. The closest thing I can find is off of a 1987 Scorpio. The part looks exactly the same except for color, but I'm scared to use it and risk shorting something else. Does anyone know where I can buy the correct replacement part, OEM or aftermarket? If not, can anyone help with directions on bypassing the Lamp Failure Indicator? I know it can be done but can't find a diagram that shows which wires are for which lights.

BTW, I had no luck finding the part on Ford's website either. And I have also heard it referred to as a Bulb Failure Sensor and Lamp Failure Relay
