Where are the updates? Frustrating...

Every company's announcements about releases is purposely vague. You need a better argument than that. I'm not defending Nokia (because I don't care) but you must realize that most device manufacturer's fall into the same pattern.

It was pulled because people downloaded it and used Phoenix to install it. It was not even there as a finalized version since it was not on the regular servers.

all manufacturer announcements generally fall into this category. yes they did say that updates were to be delivered, and then it was delayed, but there was nothing in it about pr 1.1. they were referring to 2.0.

Well again if you are not concerned and you dont own a N8 then you should not have been here to begin with :) Nokia does not do anything every company does the same and you need to realize that ... i dont work for nokia so not trying to defend them but you just cant keep bashing them for everything and all the time

Huh? I was showing an example of how Nokia does not update their phones. N95 was a prime example on it. I'm still using it hacked but I don't expect an update on this old thing. Who you should be laughing at are people who are still buying Nokia phones knowing full well what Nokia has done done in the past and are complaining about the lack updates Nokia gives out with the new phones. I guess Nokia hasn't learned or doesn't care from customers complaining if the lack of updates are still happening with the N8. I am still be using N95 but once I get a job I'll be going Android. I wasn't going go to buy a new Nokia and be stuck with no updates either officially or unofficial. Glad I passed up the N97.

Nokia DID update the N95, several times, as the do all their devices. The N95 received a number of updates as did the N95-4 that I had as with my E71, E72, etc. The issue with Nokia is that when they finally DO release a firmware update they normally break more items than they fix. If you're talking about upgrades (different from updates) from FP1 to FP2, they have never done this for any devices and I'm waiting to see how the new S^3 devices fair with updates or upgrades.

Personally it doesn't matter for me, as you said, Android is my next device. I have no interest in Symbian devices nor am I all that interested in MeeGo anymore since there is absolutely no news on flagship devices.

PR1.1 should be .... soon now - unless new bugs pop up _again_ of course.. :p Was told a specific date but promised not to disclose it.

Where is the firmware update? I'm reading about it on other blogs but neither OVI suite nor the software update on the phone is seeing it....what the hay?

It's amusing...

Nokia releases a new Social app, then pull it due to issues.. Then, Nokia releases a new Ovi Store, then, pulls it due to issues... Nokia then releases PR1.1 for the N8, then, pulls it due to issues..

3 updates in the last week that have all been pulled due to issues and not re-released. All incremental updates.. This is terrifying ... My N8 is back on the shelf as I now use my IP4. I can't deal with Nokia's mess.

I can think of many things that terrify me, but a phone update being pulled is not one of them. Seriously are you having issues with your N8 that are so serious that you can not use it until PR1.1 is out? I am using the old Ovi Store, old Social app, and PR1.0. Not seeing any issues with any of them. Don't get me wrong I welcome more features but I think some people on this forum are overreacting (just a bit).
