When you talk about the gods you worship, do you do so metaphorically?

There's a lot of psychological power in ritual, so I'll understand if you don't actually believe in the Goddess, or Jesus, or Ahura Mazda, or Allah, or whomever.
It seems a lot of people on YA are speaking in hard metaphors. Perhaps I'm reading them wrong.
