This is tricky - the better the class of reception, usually the simpler the affair. A service, the reception - champagne and quality canapes rather than a buffet, speeches and cake and then the happy couple get changed depart. Very simple, very classy.
When i receive an invitation to a reception in a ballroom of a luxury hotel i decline the invatation. i got nothing nice to wear to a fancy place like that.
