when you on Disability check how do you a ford a 1000.00?

my light bill just came and i was socked it was a 1000.00 dollars this month from 150.00 last month i called the light company and they told me the reading was right but i don't think it is right but where do i get money to pay that big of a bill
 
I would consult a manager first, not a regular customer service representative. What were your electricity bills this period in previous years? Did you move to a new house recently?

Once you get a clear explanation, ask your utility to setup some kind of affordable payment plan (break the payment into smaller payments). If this cannot be done, ask them for any type of state/local financial assistance over this. Also, you can put the charge on your credit card if all else fails (which I do not recommend unless you're capable of paying it off in three months).
 
I would call again and have them prove it was correct. That sounds awfully high unless you went overboard with the christmas lights! The meter sometimes screw up, happened to my friend. Good luck.
