The merger between Verizon and Alltel was completed on January 9, 2009. If you are still with Alltel, that means you are in a divested area and will never become a Verizon customer by being with Alltel. You should have received a welcome letter from Verizon at the time of the merger completion, if you haven't then you are still with Alltel and will be absorbed into another cell carrier if another carrier decides to purchase your area.
