when will cricket get a touchscreen phone

there was some talk about it at the beginning of last year. from my understanding they decided to hold off on it. the biggest problem is selling enough of them for it to be worthwhile. with the cheapest PDA phones retailing at over $400, and the good ones more in the $500-$600 range (now remeraber i'm talking retail, not subsidized sprint pricing or whatever).
the razr2 failed pretty bad imho, and while i recognize this is a completely different beast you still gotta realize that the price hurdle is a huge obstacle. on top of that pda folk are pretty particular, some like palm, some like winmo, some like treo, some like htc, some like moto. and cricket obviously can't carry 15 different models like sprint or whatever.
for now i think we're going to have to be happy with flashing over our own.

well I don't know how true this is but I was at a Cricket store here in Buffalo and he was saying by the beginning of 2009 that Cricket would be coming out with a touch screen phone. He said it would be like an iPhone. He also said that they want to convert to AWS here by the beginning of next year too. And then do the same to other markets. It's not a corporate store but I think it may be a premier dealer....

take a look at the corporate presentation from 1st quarter. they talk about that most markets have an additional 10MHz of AWS frequency. It sounded like they would be using that for increased EVDO capacity.
I haven't heard anything about that, but that doesn't mean it won't happen.. It's much more likely we'll see something like a Glimmer or Voyager than an actual PDA though.

cricket........getting a decent touch screen phone (besides flashed Treo's, and whatever else lol)

hmmm......probably not anytime soon. Kyocera is their main distributor and they havent made touch screen phones (at least i cant fing any. i think they made one for verizon but im not sure)
none the less, i dont see a touch screen phone coming to cricket soon (perhaps late 2008/early 2009)

^
yeah thats the one for verizon ^__^
thanks for finding it!

i remeber that thing......how ugly lol and it runs the palm OS......so i tend to stay away from it. I learned palm is unreliable when i got my first palm PDA (Palm VII) but that was some time ago and perhaps they changed for the better....havent tried palm in a long time. I was gonna get the Cintro until AOTS reviewed it and said it wasnt that good
