Our laundry machines are in the basement. There's a bathroom right next to the laundry room. It appears to have been created by the previous owner. Not sure if they did it themselves or if they paid a contractor. (hope they didn't pay anyone the shower doesn't look like professional workmanship.)
Anyway, about a week ago while I was doing laundry I heard strange noises coming from the restroom. I thought the toilet was backing up or something. In stead it was just making gurgling noises with bubbles coming up out of the bowl. ->water was clear. I flushed it, everything went fine, and it returned to acting normal. No more noises or anything.
Couple of days ago same thing happened (when the the laundry switched cycles from wash to rinse) .....only it completely backed up / over flowed, and the water was dirty.
Haven't done laundry for two days. Tonight I tossed in a small load and the toilet bubbled again. Clear water this time. I flushed it to see if that would work again. It didn't. It tried to over flow so I elevated the bulb in the tank and shoved a rag under the lever attached to it to keep it raised so the water won't run. Toilet's not doing anything now.
I just want to know why my laundry seems to be affecting my toilet? Cause I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen. Any ideas?
