When the U.S. becomes the world's largest oil producer, how will it affect the geopolitical landscape?

As the U.S. becomes energy self-sucfficient, and China becomes more dependent, will the U.S. stop keeping the sea lanes open, and will China then send ships to do that, since they will not be able to withstand an oil disruption of their supply lines?
