Should I wait until after the danger of a freeze or start soon because the days are warming up and getting longer?

tiki probably knows thisone better than me, but i had heard that it only had to be over like 45* or something
 
Once the water temperature is staying at or above 50°F, you can feed a little bit of wheat germ. Once the water temp is staying over 65°F, you can go on the regular flake/pellet food diet. Reason being, when the temp falls below 65°F, their metabolism starts slowing down, and they can't digest protein as well, so it's recommended to go with a vegetable/plant based diet then. Otherwise the food just sits in their gut and rots causing all kinds of problems.
